The Turkish flat steel spot market has continued to display a relatively stable trend this week, as weakening trading activity and cautious buyer sentiment have been largely balanced by the ongoing firm stance in upstream costs. While demand has not deteriorated sharply, market participants report that purchasing activity has become increasingly limited to immediate requirements, with buyers remaining reluctant to commit to large volumes amid the still subdued overall market environment. At the same time, the absence of any meaningful softening in HRC and scrap prices has continued to prevent suppliers from revising their spot offers downward, keeping the market broadly stable despite the slower pace of transactions. Nevertheless, discounts remain a common feature of negotiations, particularly for serious buyers and higher tonnage deals, indicating that workable levels still differ from official quotations in some cases.
Under these conditions, hot rolled sheet (HRS) prices in the Turkish spot market are still heard at $650-670/mt ex-warehouse, with discounts of around $5-10/mt continuing to be achievable in negotiations for sizable transactions.
Meanwhile, cold rolled sheet (CRS) prices have also remained largely unchanged week on week at $740-760/mt ex-warehouse, while similar flexibility is still observed for large-volume inquiries and cash-based deals.
