After a weeks-long sideways price trend, spot market prices for 0.012” G30 HDG coil have finally started to firm. Prices are up by approximately $2.00 cwt ($44/mt or $40/nt) since our last report a week ago. Import Galvalume coil from Brazil, however, is reported to be available at a price that’s “below the pricing we’re getting from Vietnam and Korea.”
In terms of current import tonnages, preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce indicates that during the month of July, the US looks to have imported 153,243 mt of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip from global sources, which reflects a 19.8% drop from July 2019, when the US imported 191,108 mt of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip from global sources.
