Prices in the local Italian flat steel market have indicated different trends over the past week. In this context, the low end of hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the local Italian market has increased by €10-20/mt ($11-22/mt) to €430-440/mt ($470-480/mt) ex-works, while the upper end of the price range has remained stable at €470/mt ($512/mt) ex-works, with local HRC prices now ranging at €430-470/mt (470-512/mt) ex-works.

Meanwhile, Italian cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have remained stable at €540-570/mt ($589-621/mt) ex-works and at €520-550/mt ($567-600/mt) ex-works respectively, after increasing by larger margins compared to HRC prices in previous weeks. Market sources state that there is low availability of CRC in the market and so CRC prices may increase more than prices of HRC and HDG in the coming period.
In the meantime, distributors are still facing some difficulties in transferring price increases to their customers, but it seems that market perception is going to improve in the coming weeks.
