Sluggish Chinese HDG market trends sideways

During the week ending June 28, the Chinese hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has trended sideways, amid low activity. Average prices of HDG in China can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

In the past week, mainstream HDG prices in the Chinese market have generally been stable, though prices of some traders with higher inventories have been negotiable for actual transactions. Coming to the end of the month, some traders are also running low on funds and have difficulties in paying back loans and so have been anxious to sell off materials and bring in cash. Confidence among traders is also low given the ongoing weakness of demand. On the other hand, with the anticipated arrival of new HDG supplies in the market, shortages seen for some specifications are expected to be relieved to some extent.

Overall, it is expected that that the HDG market in China will follow a stable trend or decrease slightly in the coming week.
