Domestic and export coated steel prices have remained unchanged in Turkey over the past week.
Demand in still limited as buyers are cautious, aiming for some more clarity in the feedstock segment and to see if the high levels of HRC prices will be accepted by re-rollers. In particular, customers insist that the current HDG and PPGI price levels are high as the majority of restocking for December-January production has been going on at $430-440/mt ex-works for HRC and at even lower levels on the import side.
The coated steel sellers, in their turn, are not eager to provide discounts as the current HRC offers from local mills remain firm at around $460/mt ex-works, with some prices $10/mt higher also heard in the market.
As a result, both sides agree that, once the pricing in the HRC segment gains clarity in Turkey, business activity in the coated steel segment might improve.
