Spot prices for US domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil have adjusted across the board since our last report a week ago, with some SteelOrbis sources indicating that deals below the average transaction range are available to volume-sized buyers.
Base price HDG spot market prices are down by $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt) since our last report a week ago, and are now being heard at $37-$38.50 cwt. ($816-$849/mt or $740-$770/nt,) ex-Midwest mill.
Shortening lead times, soft scrap pricing and wanting ex-mill order placement have all contributed to falling spot market prices, sources say, adding that spot market pricing for 0.019”x48” G90 HDG coil is “all over the map.” Pricing for 0.019x41.5625 Gr80/AZ55 Galvalume coil is “even more flexible,” sources note, citing cheap offer prices from mills in Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Futures offers for this product from those countries have been heard as low as $38.00 cwt. ($838/mt or $760/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.
