A market source in Brazil told SteelOrbis that current prices for the export of Galvalume to South American destinations remain in the $880/mt to $900/mt range. The price, cost and freight conditions to South American countries for the AZ-150 product, is equivalent, in average, to $780/mt to $800/mt, when considered FOB conditions, the source said, adding that there is a wide variation of logistic costs, depending on the country of destination.
In May, CSN exported 8,200 mt of Galvalume to the US at $1,017/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in March, while ArcelorMittal exported a negligible volume to Paraguay.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in May 18,500 mt of Galvalume from China at $726/mt, 500 mt from India at $717/mt, and 200 mt from Vietnam at $692/mt, a volume reflecting both the high domestic prices and the reduced production at ArcelorMittal and CSN, the only companies authorized by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil. Such companies have blast furnaces currently idled for maintenance.
