Price of Brazilian HDG remains stable

The base for negotiations for the export from Brazil of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) is $770/mt, FOB conditions, a source from a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

The price (with the G40 grade product as reference) reflects a stable trend since early April, the source said, adding that the price of the product was not affected so far by the reduction of prices of most steel products in the international markets, as Brazilian exports of HDG are destined chiefly to the US, where in his view the demand is stable.

In March, Brazilian producers exported 23,000 mt of HDG to the US at $780/mt and 19,400 mt to Argentina at $878/mt, both FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in January.
