SteelOrbis has been informed that the long-standing negotiations between Taiwanese steel plate producers and the government have given results, with the Taiwanese government announcing minimum prices for steel plate imports in the third and fourth quarters. Accordingly, the minimum base steel plate import price for Hyundai Steel has been announced at $695/mt CFR, while for Laiwu, Shagang and Puyang the minimum price level is at $683/mt CFR. Market sources state that no mill can conclude sales to Taiwan at these price levels, and so a serious shortage in plate supply is expected in Taiwan.
