Mexican HRC prices take a fall

Mexican HRC prices fell US$29/mt in the last two weeks to settle at US$570/mt ex-mill.

The flat steel prices continue to decline in line with the global context. Sources tell SteelOrbis that the pressure from China is keeping steel prices down in emerging markets, including Mexico, and sector sources predict that could last throughout this year.

Steel imports from China to Latin America grew 56 percent in 2014 over the previous year which "seriously affected" production, according to industry sources, while consumption has been submitted growth.
