Due to lower stock availability and higher flat steel prices set by domestic producers, the offers in the local spot market in Turkey have moved up as well, rising by $10-50/mt. Availability problems in the market are becoming serious since some producers have failed to dispatch orders from previous months and they do not accept orders for some materials, even for February production.
Delivery problems on the mills’ side have caused end-users to increase their purchases from traders, which has positively affected the price situation in the spot market. "We have had low stocks since the end of the summer and we could not order due to higher producer prices. But now there is good demand in the market and low stocks and it is not possible to resolve stock problems unless producers start dispatching our orders from previous months. There are traders in the market who cannot get their orders from August production," a trader told SteelOrbis.
Over the past two weeks, local spot prices have increased by $20/mt for HRC, $50/mt for CRC and $10/mt hot rolled pickled and oiled materials.
