Aiming to offset the input costs caused mainly by the ongoing rises in import HRC prices, Pakistani producers of cold rolled (CR) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coils have continued to raise their offer prices. Accordingly, on January 14, CRC and HDG prices in Pakistan have risen by PKR 3,000/mt ($17-18/mt) compared to the previous offers voiced on December 22.
As SteelOrbis reported earlier, although discounts provided by Taiwanese and Japanese HRC suppliers have encouraged Pakistani re-rollers to place new large-volume orders, deal prices are about $55-75/mt higher than prices transacted in early December. Accordingly, 20,000 mt of ex-Taiwan SAE10006 HRC and about 15,000-20,000 mt of ex-Japan SAE10006 HRC were booked at $780/mt CFR at $800/mt CFR, respectively.
