During the week ending November 9, average prices in the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market have risen slightly, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, ferrous metal futures prices in China have moved up compared to the previous week, exerting a positive impact on HDG prices and contributing to improved sentiment in the HDG market. Chinese steelmakers will soon issue their ex-works prices for December delivery, while big increases in HDG ex-works prices are not anticipated due to the approach of the traditional winter offseason. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
