As of October 19, the average prices in the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market are mostly unchanged on week-on-week basis, with a very slight downtick seen in prices of thick specifications, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
In the first part of the given week, HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market increased with the support of the rising trend of semi-finished steel prices in northern China. However, in the latter part of the week, ferrous metal futures prices in China have decreased significantly, exerting a negative impact on HDG prices. Moreover, iron ore prices have moved down, weakening support from the cost side. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge down slightly in the coming week.
