During the week ending July 18, average prices in the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market have fluctuated very slightly, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, demand for HDG in the domestic market has been slack due to high temperatures during the current offseason. Major Chinese steelmaker Baowu Group has issued its ex-works prices for August shipment, raising its HDG prices by RMB 100/mt ($14.5/mt), thereby exerting a positive impact on the HDG market. It is thought that domestic HDG prices will move on a fluctuating trend in the coming week.
