Prices in the local Italian flat steel market remained stable in the past three weeks due to summer holidays. Currently, the prices have resumed their uptrend with hot rolled coil (HRC) prices, which had reached €540-560/mt ex-works at the beginning of July, increasing by €30/mt to €510-530/mt ($607-631/mt), cold rolled coil (CRC) prices rising by €25/mt on average to €600/mt ($714/mt) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil base prices increasing by €20/mt to €610-620/mt ($726-738/mt), all ex-works. The prices have been supported by the rise in import prices, especially Indian and Turkish offers, after the proposal of the European Commission to adopt measures against imports of hot rolled flat steel coming from Brazil, Iran, Russia and Ukraine, which had caused a decrease in the number of import offers in the market.
