During the week ending November 18, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have indicated minor fluctuations, with prices of thick specifications seeing minor upticks, while prices of thin specifications have indicated a slight downtrend. Overall transaction activity in the market has continued to be slack. Average HRC prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, since thick specifications have been in short supply in the market, traders have increased their sales prices for such products. However, on the other hand, prices of thin specifications from domestic steelmakers Masteel and Baogang have been at comparatively cheap levels, resulting in a softening of market prices of thin specifications. It is expected that HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will continue their fluctuating trend in the coming week, with just minor increases or decreases anticipated.
