While most HDG producers in India are reported to have filled their order books for August production, the producers are hesitating to fill their books for September production as they expect a further uptrend in prices. With some producers such as Shree PreCoated (SPSL) and Uttam offering 0.5 mm 100g/m² zinc coated material to Europe at €490-510/mt CFR Antwerp, it is said that mills that produce high quality material have been offering up to the level of €550/mt CFR Antwerp. However, it is known that the acceptable price level for European buyers is currently €450-480/mt CFR Antwerp.

It appears Indian HDG producers will not have to be aggressive in the European export markets until the end of the third quarter as they have allocated their orders in the local and export markets until the time period in question.
