Over the past two weeks, demand in Turkish flat steel import market has been slack due to the end-of-Ramadan holiday, while buyers have started to make price inquiries as of the beginning of this week though they are in no rush to make bookings. Due to the negative economic situation in Turkey and the start of the stagnant summer season, buyers are very cautious about making new bookings. According to market sources, demand for import flat steel in Turkey is not expected to recover in the short term. However, flat steel offers to Turkey are expected to remain stable since iron ore prices are very strong and Turkish flat steel producers are unwilling to decrease their prices.
Under the current circumstances, ex-CIS HRC and CRC prices have remained stable week on week at $505-520/mt CFR and $575-600/mt CFR, respectively.
