European flat steel prices continue to increase

During the past two weeks, prices in the European flat steel market have moved upwards since the prices of raw material and flat steel in the global market have continued to increase and also due to the proposal by the European Commission to adopt measures against imports of hot rolled flat steel coming from Brazil, Iran, Russia and Ukraine. However, demand is weak since buyers consider the new price levels to be on the high side and also due to the summer period.

Hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in Europe have increased by €35/mt to €475-515/mt ($556-603/mt), cold rolled coil (CRC) have risen by €30/mt to €560-600/mt ($656-702/mt) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have moved up by €20/mt to €580-630/mt ($679-738/mt), all ex-works and compared to two weeks ago.

€1 = $1.17
