US domestic hot rolled (HRC) prices have fallen $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt) this week, and offers can now be found in the range of approximately $31.50-$32.50 cwt. ($695-$717/mt or $630-$650/nt) ex-Midwest mill. Sources tell SteelOrbis that even greater deals can be found from mills in the south, where buyers reported seeing offers as low as $30.00 cwt. ($661/mt or $600/nt) ex-mill.
Mexican offers also came down $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) to the general range of $30.50-$31.50 cwt. ($672-$694/mt or $610-630/nt) DDP loaded truck delivered into Houston. Buyers have not heard of much activity from south of the border for some time, but they expect pricing to continue to soften to stay competitive with falling US domestic prices.
In addition, Russian offers on HRC remained unchanged from last week and can be found in the general range of $29.00-$30.00 cwt. ($595-$617/mt or $540-$560/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports.
