According to market sources, demand in the local pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil market in Turkey has remained quiet during the past week. Currently, Turkish mills' local prices for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are at $840-870/mt, while offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $730-765/mt and prices for 1 mm RAL 9002 are at $665-700/mt, all decreasing by $15/mt compared to last week. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis, exclude 18 percent VAT, and are for May production. Market sources state that, despite the increasing demand for Turkish PPGI exports, producers continue to offer discounts to the local market depending on buyers and tonnages. However, if demand for Turkish PPGI exports stabilizes at increased levels, discounts in the local market are expected to be reduced and domestic prices are foreseen to move sideways.

On the other hand, demand for Turkish PPGI exports has increased over the past two weeks and is now at medium levels. Market players state that demand in foreign markets, especially markets in North Africa like Libya, Morocco and Algeria, has started to result in deals. Although this has been welcomed by Turkish PPGI exporters, prices in Turkish PPGI export transactions have decreased by $10/mt week on week to the range of $720-760/mt FOB when discounts are taken into account.
