Last week, across the board price softening was seen for US domestic HDG, with base price HDG spots ticking down about $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt), while spot prices for coating extras fell by $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt). This week, despite the most commonly reported spot price transaction ranges having remained neutral, still at approximately $36.00-$38.00 cwt. ($794-$838/mt or $720-$760), ex-Midwest mill, sources close to SteelOrbis say there are deals to be had. US domestic 0.019”x48 G90 is falling, as is 0.019" x 41.5625" Gr80/AZ55 Galvalume, according to sources, and if scrap and hot rolled coil prices continue to decline, “we could see HDG prices tick down a few more notches as well.”
