On March 6, Pakistani producers of cold rolled (CR) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coils increased their prices further on the heels of the ongoing rise in feedstock offers.
Accordingly, local prices of CR and HDG coils have increased by $26-28/mt (PKR 3,000/mt) compared to the previous offers voiced on March 2. Moreover, some Pakistan-based sources expect one more round of price increases this week. “There has been no trade in Pakistan, following the most recent booking of ex-Japan HRC at $800/mt CFR. Considering that all fresh HRC offers are coming at above $800/mt CFR, I do not exclude prices of finished steel will move up further. I hardly believe that it will happen this week as some people say,” a Pakistan-based trader stated. By the middle of the current week, Taiwanese suppliers of HRC have issued their HRC offers to the Pakistani market at $840/mt CFR Karachi, SteelOrbis has learned.
