During the week ending December 15, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have increased slightly, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, higher domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices have pushed up costs for PPGI production, resulting in higher PPGI prices in the spot market. Meanwhile, inventory levels in the PPGI market have decreased, exerting a positive impact on PPGI prices. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge up further in the coming week.
