During the week ending August 4, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have increased, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, Hebei-based steelmaker Tangshan Guofeng Steel has issued its PPGI ex-works prices for August shipment, raising its price by RMB 540/mt to RMB 4,200/mt compared to its settlement price for July. This has exerted a positive impact on the price trend in the PPGI market. Meanwhile, shortages have been observed in the market for some PPGI specifications. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move up further in the coming week.
