Demand for Turkish coated steel has improved lately, providing support for upticks in local producers’ prices for hot dip galvanized materials, which their offers for pre-painted galvanized iron have remained stable. This week, business activity has slowed down mainly due to the approaching end-of-Ramadan holiday, though re-rollers expect it to pick up after the holiday.
“We made a good amount of deals last week and expectations are positive in the market. We think prices will increase again after the holiday,” a re-roller told SteelOrbis.
On the export side, demand has also been better since last week with price inquiries coming from the EU. According to sources, deals have been closed at $550-555/mt FOB base for HDG to Morocco, Romania and Bulgaria.
“Normalization has already begun worldwide, but also the summer period has arrived. This year we don't know how seasonality will have an impact. There is uncertainty in every market and buyers in the targeted countries are also very cautious. But demand has been improving day by day,” a re-roller said.
