Euro zone annual inflation rate rises again

EU statistics institution Eurostat said that the annual inflation rate in Euro zone rose to 2.5% in May from 2% in April. The rate a year earlier was 1.8%. Monthly inflation was registered as 0.3% in May 2004. Separately, annual inflation rate in the 25 member states of European Union (EU) hit 2.4% in May. A year earlier the rate was 1.7%. According to the figures published by Eurostat, member countries which marked the highest annual rates for May are; Slovakia with 8.2%, Hungary with 7.8%, Latvia with 6.1% and Slovenia with 3.9%, whereas the lowest rates were seen in Finland with -0.1%, Lithuania with 1%, Denmark with 1.1% and Cyprus with 1.2%. In addition, annual inflation rate was recorded as 2.1%, 2.8% and 2.3% in Germany, France and Italy respectively.
