China’s rolled steel output up by 29.5% in Q1

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, China's steel production reached 61.5 million tons in the first quarter of 2004 with an increase of 26.4% compared to the same period of last year. According to official statistics, rolled steel production also surged by 29.5% to 67.3 million tons in the aforementioned period. The statistics show that the consumption of rolled steel in January-March 2004 period amounted to 75.7 million tons, up by 28.3% compared to the corresponding period of last year. This figure also includes record rolled steel import of 10.1 million tons. Meanwhile, billet imports reached 1.51 million tons.
