China raises imports of iron ore
The latest industry reports reveal that China has been increasing to receive iron ore from abroad. The range of countries exporting iron ore to China is widening in parallel. Besides the Pacific area, China has started to import material from the Atlantic region as well. The reports state that imports from Canada, New Zealand and Chile are also set to arrive China with this purpose. Quebec Cartier Mining Company and Iron Ore Company of Canada have exported iron ores to China. It is believed that the main reason for these countries to focus their iron ore exports to China is basically due to the weakening demand they receive from Japan as Japan has started to decrease its long distance imports for this material. In the January-April period of this year, China's total iron ore imports were at 518'000 tons from Chile, doubled from a year ago, 65'000 tons from New Zealand.China raises imports of iron ore
