Total steel consumption in Ukraine is expected to reach 8.2 million mt in 2011, marking an increase of 10-15 percent year on year, according to the Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal. The steel producer predicts that the greatest increase in consumption will be seen in the steel tube sector and in mechanical engineering.

In 2010, Zaporizhstal increased its steel shipments by 90,000 mt compared to 2009. Ukraine is the priority market for Zaporizhstal. Currently, the share of Zaporizhstal in the Ukrainian hot rolled and cold rolled steel market is 57 percent.
