The 6.04-kilometer Zhang-Quan-Xiao-Port Railway was opened to traffic several days ago, thus connecting up the Zhang-Quan-Xiao Railway to Xiaocuo Port in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian. Consequently, iron ore imported through Xiaocuo Port can now be transported directly by train to Fujian Sanming Steel Group and to steel enterprises in Jiangxi Province and Hunan Province. As a result, Xiaocuo Port is expected to become the main discharge port for the iron ore imports of the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi and Hunan.

From January to September 2007, the iron ore imported through Xiaocuo Port totaled 790,000 mt with its total value amounting to $65.2744 million, up 22.08 percent and 61.56 percent year on year respectively.
