Wuyang Steel develops thick steel plate for hydroelectric power application

Henan-based Chinese steelmaker Wuyang Steel, a subsidiary of giant Chinese steel producer Hebei Steel Group, has stated that its newly-developed 300 mm thick Z-direction steel plate has passed technical tests, and so has been approved for application in 700MW hydroelectric power generating units.

Before the development of the product in question, steel of such thickness for application in hydroelectric power facilities were entirely imported from overseas.
