Workers at Peru’s key iron ore producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, ended on October 7 a two-week-long strike, the company said this week. Workers asked for a pay increase.

Shougang Hierro Peru said it has reached an agreement with the workers to end the strike. A local labor authority had to intermediate the negotiations, SteelOrbis has learned.

The union organizing the strike said the halt affected production and iron ore exports to an undisclosed extent.
