The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose 3.1 percent in the week ending December 1, following a 1.6 percent decrease in the week before.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,818,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 3.1 percent increase from the 1,764,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 0.1 percent increase from the 1,816,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 73.6 percent in the week ending December 1, compared to 71.4 percent in the previous week and 73.3 percent in the same week last year.
