German automaker Volkswagen has abandoned its plans to build a new auto manufacturing facility in Turkey due to lower demand amid uncertainties related to the coronavirus, according to a report by German automotive industry newspaper AutomobilWoche . However, Volkswagen has not made an official announcement.

It is reported that Volkswagen could review the decision when the coronavirus pandemic is brought under control.

The automaker had been planning to open an auto manufacturing facility in Manisa, as previously reported by SteelOrbis. However, it decided to suspend its plan for the new plant in October last year due to the international criticism regarding Turkey’s military operations in Syria.
