Vietnam-based steel producer Hoa Phat Group has announced that in July this year it produced 633,000 mt of crude steel, up by 22 percent month on month. The company’s sales volume in July increased by three percent month on month to 555,000 mt, including construction steel, steel billet and hot rolled coil. In particular, in the given month the company’s HRC production totaled 291,000 mt, the highest since the beginning of the year, up by 16 percent due to improved demand, while its construction steel output totaled 261,000 mt, decreasing by nine percent due to weak demand and slower construction activities, both month on month. Hoa Phat’s galvanized steel and pipe outputs in July totaled 32,000 mt and 74,000 mt, respectively.
In the January-July period this year, Hoa Phat produced 3.5 million mt of crude steel, down 30 percent year on year. The company’s sales volume in the given period decreased by 23 percent year on year to 3.46 million mt, including construction steel, steel billet and hot rolled coil. In the first seven months, the company’s construction steel and HRC sales totaled 1.9 million mt and 1.5 million mt, respectively. The company’s steel pipe and galvanized steel sales in the given period totaled 399,000 mt and 207,000 mt, respectively.
