Venezuelan state-run company Corpovex has shipped its first metal scrap cargo to Turkey, according to a media report from Bloomberg. Corpovex reportedly delivered 27,800 mt of the product to an undisclosed client in September.

The media report said the scrap metal sale, the first to its kind to Turkey, was a “desperate” move by Venezuela, which seeks cash amid a steep crisis and excessive inflation.

Corpovex said in a Twitter post in November it was shipping 29,000 mt of steel scrap, but did not mention Turkey as the destination.
