France-based tube and pipe producer Vallourec has announced that it is supplying 42 kilometers of steel pipes to Brazilian natural gas producer Parnaíba Gas Natural for the gas pipeline project that will link the Gavião Branco field to the gas treatment unit in Santo Antônio dos Lopes in the northeastern Brazilian state of Maranhão. The deadline of the project is scheduled for December this year.

Compliant with the challenging standard API 5L X65 PSL 2, the pipes have a nominal diameter of 20 inches, a length of 18 meters and have received special treatment that ensures all the necessary mechanical properties to resist the strong internal pressure caused by the passage of the gas. In addition, a triple layer polyethylene coating guarantees ideal underground corrosion protection for buried pipes.
