Vale’s iron ore exports up 5.6 percent in October

Exports of iron ore by Vale and its affiliated companies reached 27 million mt in October, 5.6 percent up year-on-year, according to data released Tuesday by the nation’s union of the industry of extraction of iron and base metals, Sinferbase.

In the cumulative period of January to October, iron ore exports by Vale and its affiliated companies totaled 239.93 million mt, 5.3 percent up year-on-year.

Sinferbase said Samarco exported 21.8 million mt of the commodity in the Jan-Oct period, while Anglo American sold about 6.8 million mt of the product overseas in the same period.

Vale’s iron ore sales in the domestic market in October reached 2 million mt, 10.3 percent down year-on-year, and 19.9 million mt in the Jan-Oct period, which is 3.2 percent higher year-on-year, than last year’s domestic sales.
