Brazil-based mining giant Vale has announced that it will resume its underground mining operations in Sudbury, Canada by the end of February, following the completion of safety improvements.

Vale stated that no impacts are expected on annual finished nickel production as a result of the temporary stoppage.

Mining operations at the Sudbury facilities were suspended at the end of January to review safety conditions and minimize accident risks after a fatal accident.
