Vale announced this week that has completed works at its D13 and D15 iron ore carriers, both located at its Tubarao port, in the city of Vitoria, in the state of Espirito Santo.

According to the company, the two carriers were “covered” in an attempt to help Vale reduce waste while loading its vessels.

“Large yellow tiles were installed on the side of the carriers to reduce the dispersion of material in the atmosphere and the possibility of falling into the sea during the ship loading operation,” the company said.

The two iron ore carriers account for about 65 percent of the company’s Tubarao complex.
Vale said there were 6,000 square meters of confinement to the fullest extent of the carriers, which is about 500 meters. “Aluminum trapezoid-shaped tiles were interspersed with translucent tiles every 5 meters, in order to ensure internal lighting in the carrier without using energy,” it noted.

The work also included the installation of 70 tons of reinforcement structures to ensure the stability of the equipment.
