Brazil-based Vale has named a new executive director for its ferrous segment: Peter Poppinga will replace Jose Carlos Martins, effective immediately, according to a news report this week.

Poppinga joined Vale in 1999 and prior to his new position, he served as the company’s director of base metals. However, he reportedly has 20 years of experience in the iron ore market.
