US exports of iron and steel scrap increase in June

According to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC), the US exported 1,011,118 metric tons of iron and steel scrap in June 2015, compared to 1,058,587 mt in May 2015 and 1,108,443 mt in June 2014.

Turkey was the top destination for US steel scrap in June, with 361,289 mt, reflecting an increase from May’s total of 338,857 mt and the June 2014 total of 304,301 mt.

Other top destinations for US steel scrap in June were Taiwan, with 152,724 mt; Thailand, with 116,964 mt; Mexico, with 71,758 mt; and Egypt, with 47,497 mt. The top five destinations in May were Turkey, Taiwan, India, Mexico, and Egypt. The top five destinations for US steel scrap in June 2014 were Turkey, Taiwan, India, Egypt, and Vietnam.
