US wire rod exports down 18 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of wire rod totaled 3,941 mt in September 2019, down 18.0 percent from August and down 3.4 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, wire rod exports totaled $3.8 million in September, compared to $4.2 million in the previous month and $3.8 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most wire rod to Canada in September with 2,643 mt, compared to 2,903 mt in August and 2,347 mt in September 2018. Other destinations include Mexico, with 1,124 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US wire rod exports in September.
