US Steel Canada announced this week that they will be “hot idling” its coke-making operations in Hamilton, Ontario, while the company restructures and searches for a potential buyer.

Documents filed with the bankruptcy court state that US Steel Canada plans to sell its Hamilton and Nanticoke plants by next October.

About 100 workers will be affected by the coke battery idling, according to the United Steelworkers Local 1005.
