Baker Hughes has reported for the week ended December 28 that the total active US rig count, which includes oil and natural-gas rigs, added 3 rigs to reach 1,083. Oil rigs rose by 2 to 885 in the week. The combined domestic tally is 154 rigs ahead of a year ago totals.

Canadian rig count is 70, down 66 from 136 rigs a year ago. Canada lost 61 rigs compared to the 131 rigs reported a week ago.

The combined North American rig count finished the week at 1,153, up 88 units from 1,065 rigs in the year-ago period, according to Baker Hughes.

The oilfield services (OFS) sector faces uncertainty in 2019 as oil prices have weakened and many producers have announced that they will trim capital spending plans for the year.
