US rebar imports fall 30 percent in October

According to the latest census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of rebar totaled 106,169 mt in October, down 30 percent from September and down 49.1 percent from October 2015 levels. By value, rebar imports totaled $42.6 million in October 2016, compared to $62.6 million the previous month and $89.3 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most rebar from Turkey in October, with 67,794 mt, compared to 98,239 mt in September and 185,165 mt in October 2015. Other top sources of imported rebar in October include Japan, with 16,399 mt; Vietnam, with 13,217 mt; Taiwan, with 4,225 mt; and Singapore, with 1,152 mt.
