On Monday, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that US raw steel production rose 1.9 percent last week (ended August 11), after a 0.9 percent increase a week ago.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,899,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 1.9 percent increase from the 1,863,000 nt produced in the previous week and a 2.6 percent increase from the 1,851,000 nt produced in the same week a year ago.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 76.9 percent in the week ending August 11, compared to 75.4 percent in the previous week and 75.7 percent in the same week last year.
