US raw steel production increased last week (ended November 12) with output increasing 2.9 percent from the previous week. In the week ending November 5, US raw steel production had dropped 0.4 percent compared to the previous week.
Total raw steel production in the United States last week amounted to 1,662,000 nt. This figure represents an increase of 2.9 percent from the 1,615,000 nt produced in the prior week, and is up 6.3 percent from the 1,557,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 68.7 percent in the week ending November 12, compared to 66.8 percent in the prior week and 65.3 percent in the same week last year.
